Where can you find the highest building in Vienna? Why and when was it built? What is so special about it? What is near the Danube Tower?

From the Danube Tower (at 252m the highest building in Vienna) you have a 360° panoramic view of the city on the Danube . Vienna and the Danube are truly at your feet here. The elevator takes you to the viewing terrace at a height of approx. 150 m in just 35 seconds . Why not enjoy cake and café with a fantastic view of Vienna afterwards? You will find two revolving restaurants at the Danube Tower. At 160m the tower café and at 170m the tower restaurant . At the foot of the tower, the Donaubräu invites you to take a short break. However, the Danube Tower is not only used for tourist purposes, but also as a transmitter and measuring station for weather recording. Pollutant levels are also monitored here. From the Danube Tower you have the highest and best view of the city. In good and clear weather you have a distant view to the Rax and Schneeberg in the south, as well as to Bratislava in the east. Vienna and Bratislava are the two closest capitals in the world. You are separated by only about 50 km and you can visit Bratislava in a day trip by bus, train or boat. The Danube Tower was built in 1964 in the course of the International Garden Exhibition in the Danube Park . You are located in the 22nd district of Vienna – the Donaustadt . The red subway line U1 takes you from Stephansplatz to the station Kaisermühlen (VIC) in 15 minutes. Then walk a few more minutes through the park to the tower. The Danube Tower has often been used for sports events . The first stair run took place in 1992. 776 steps lead up and the winner made it in 4 minutes. In the meantime, the annual stair run is held at the Millennium Tower. For 17 years, a bungee jump ramp served adventurous visitors to plunge into the depths. Of course, attached to a jump rope.
